The diversity of landscapes in the Sahara allows various kinds of trip: whether majestic sand dunes or otherworldly, rocky landscapes, Marokko Trekking will personalise an itinerary with you. You may also specify the duration, from one afternoon to ten days or more: the price will vary depending on the duration and the number of travellers in the group (see price outline).

You are accompanied by a number of camels that, should you become tired, can also be ridden; principally, however, they are there to carry baggage, food and equipment. You only need to carry a small backpack. For the sake of the animals, please keep your baggage to a minimum (see kit list for necessary items); surplus baggage can be left in a secure place.

Depending on the number in the group, you will be guided by one or more of Lahsen Khouya’s colleagues, who help him look after the camels, prepare meals and carry out other jobs. They all know the desert very well and put this knowledge at your disposal.

Much of the equipment is provided for you (cooking equipment, tents, blankets, carpets and mattresses) – see the kit list page for the items you should bring yourself.

In the desert one eats plentiful, good food - varied, typically Moroccan meals: salads for lunch and hot food in the evening (couscous, rice and dried beans combined with stews etc.). Moroccan food is richly spiced but not spicy and can, if you request it, be vegetarian.

The amount of water taken is up to you: you should inform us before setting off how many bottles you need, based on a general guide of 1.5l per person per day (this varies of course depending on season and temperature). It is not advisable to drink water from the wells.

Sleeping outside under a carpet of stars is a moving and unforgettable experience; you will need a sleeping mat and a good, warm sleeping bag. Of course you are free to decide between sleeping in a tent or outside.

There are no particular vaccinations legally required or indeed necessary for travel for Morocco. It is, however, a good idea to have your hepatitis and typhoid immunizations up to date – consult your doctor!

To enter Morocco your passport must be valid until at least three months after your departure from the country. It is, however, not necessary to request a visa in advance: your passport will be stamped on entry with a tourist visa valid for three months.
